Birds are a diverse and fascinating group of animals, found in nearly every corner of the Earth. With over 10,000 species, they inhabit various ecosystems, from tropical rainforests to arctic tundras. Birds are warm-blooded vertebrates, most of which are known for their feathers, beaks, and the ability to lay eggs. Their remarkable ability to fly, aided by their wings, is one of their most distinctive characteristics, though some species like ostriches and penguins have evolved to live without this capability.

The anatomy of birds is uniquely adapted for flight, with lightweight bones, a high metabolic rate, and powerful chest muscles that enable the flapping of wings. However, not all birds are flighted; some have adapted to life on the ground, in water, or in trees.
